Costa

THE 'FUN' IN FUNDRAISING
The funds being directly donated by Costa are only half the story. The Costa stores themselves have got into the spirit of giving and have raised funds in a variety of exciting and imaginative ways.
  • Many stores have sold special Costa products or held fundraising events in-store. This is proving as popular with customers as they are with staff.
  • Partner organisations have shown their support with donations, and let's not forget the generosity of our customers who've made over-the-counter contributions to the Costa Foundation.
  • Some individual team members have raised money themselves and some have even given directly from their pay.
Costa have shown their support by promising to match all fundraising activity pound-for-pound. On top of that, all individual donations can be increased through Gift Aid, a government-led initiative that allows charities to reclaim the basic rate income tax on donations made to them by UK taxpayers who sign a Gift Aid declaration.

We'd like to send a special thank you to the Costa stores in the following areas: Lancashire & Cumbria, North East, Central & North Scotland, London Airports, London Rail, South Coast, South West, West Country, North Midlands and Home Counties.

Incredibly, the stores in these areas raised enough money in 2009 to build a brand new classroom each.

THREE PEAKS CHALLENGE

For the fourth year in a row and led by Regional Development Manager for Costa Home Counties, Sandy Gourlay, a group of adventurous Costa managers climbed the three tallest peaks in the UK one after the other. Over the years these events have raised a staggering £40,000 for the Costa Foundation, and this time the team celebrated by brewing fresh Costa Coffee Espresso at the top of each peak. These funds have been used to build classrooms in Ethiopia, Guatemala and Uganda.

COAST 2 COAST BIKE RIDE

Nine cyclists from the Costa Corporate Sales team went the extra mile (143 miles to be precise) by cycling from the west coast of Whitehaven to the east coast of Sunderland Roker Pier. The good news was that they all finished the journey. The better news was that they raised a fantastic £10,000 in the process, enough to fund a new classroom at Ntungamo High school in Uganda.

FUNDRAISING MANAGER OF THE YEAR OPENS
NEW SCHOOL IN COLOMBIA.

Jodie Slater, store manager at Tamworth, was awarded the very first 'green bean' pin by Costa in recognition of her fundraising achievements in 2009. But the real prize was a visit to Colombia to officially open La Esperanza School. Next year's Fundraising Manager of the Year has been invited to open three new schools in Guatemala in 2011.
